A literary journal for people who love books and lose fights with them. Tools tested, methods that respect your brain, shelves of books that hold on.
Why this exists
Most reading advice assumes the reader's problem is discipline. For a lot of us the problem is format, session length, book choice, and a memory that drops a great chapter by Thursday — all of which are solvable, and none of which are solved by trying harder. So this site tests the tools with a stopwatch and a rubric, writes methods that include permission to quit, and keeps shelves of books that hold on.
What is here
17 tools scored against the published rubric, eight method essays, and 26 books across three shelves. Every tool page shows its verdict, its score, its confidence flag, and the date. Start with the method or the toolkit.
Standards
Scores come from how we test and nothing else. Affiliate links exist and never change a verdict — the full policy is on editorial policy. Where a number has not been measured or verified, the page says so instead of guessing. This site does not give medical advice; see the medical disclaimer.
Who and where
Byline pending. Contact email not yet published. Publisher entity not yet published. These placeholders are here deliberately: the same rule that keeps invented prices off the tool pages keeps an invented author off this one. They will be replaced with real details, and the change will be logged below.
