What we found on 3 November

The frequently asked questions on magicbookmark.com now say you can start with a two-week free trial: unlimited books, no credit card, and nothing that auto-renews. After the trial, a credit covers one book for good, with unlimited recaps, cast list and chat for that book. (magicbookmark.com)

The App Store listing, checked the same day, says each book requires one Bookmark Credit, that credits never expire, and that your first credit is free. (App Store listing) When we last checked both on 27 October 2026, we recorded the first free credit; we did not note a trial then. We cannot say exactly when the website wording changed.

Why the trial matters for ADHD readers

The usual risk with a paid reading tool, for an ADHD reader, is buying it in a burst of enthusiasm and never opening it again. A trial with no card and no auto-renewal removes that risk: there is no forgotten subscription to cancel. If a trial is available to you, use it on the book you most often stall in, not on a book you are already flying through. That is the honest test of whether a recap that stops at your page changes anything for you.

Two weeks is short for a reader who reads in bursts. Pick a book you are actively reading, or one you abandoned that you want back, and use the recap and the cast list at every restart during those two weeks. Our ten-minute book restart is a good way to run it.

What has not changed

  • Supported titles only: launched with romance, fantasy, romantasy, YA, sci-fi and historical fiction, with more added. You can request a title in the app.
  • iPhone only, iOS 16.4 or later. Android is on the roadmap, per the website.
  • Works with your own copy in any format: print, ebook, audiobook (since version 1.1.1 on 27 October 2026) or library loan.
  • No subscription; credits never expire.

Does this change our score?

No. Our Magic Bookmark review scores it 65/100, BORROW FIRST, from a listing-based desk review. A trial is the kind of thing BORROW FIRST asks for: try before you pay. The full picture, including the credit math for different reading patterns, is in our Magic Bookmark guide.
