Try the free reader on your phone first
Both apps sell better voices and more convenience. Neither can tell you whether listening works for you, and your phone can, for free. On iPhone, turn on Speak Screen in Settings, Accessibility, Read & Speak, then swipe down with two fingers to hear any screen. On Android, use Select to Speak from the Accessibility settings. Use it for a week on the documents you actually avoid. If you listen, pay for a better voice; if you do not, a better voice is unlikely to change that.

Making either one work with ADHD

Paying for Speechify without regret
Speechify Premium was $29 a month or $139 a year billed yearly on 4 November 2026. The yearly plan is cheaper per month only if you will still use it in month ten. For a term or a project, the monthly plan you cancel on time costs less. Put the trial's end date in your calendar on day one.
A one-week way to decide
If a week with the free reader already on your phone leaves you wanting better voices, try each app's free option for a few days, on the same kind of text you actually read: articles, a PDF for work, or an ebook chapter. At the end, notice which one you opened without being reminded. Pay only for that one, monthly first, and put the renewal date in your calendar the day you subscribe.
